Why its built this way Weather protection without compromising mobility The Artaxes Escape performs confidently in changing weather while maintaining the flexibility expected from a premium stretch softshell. Its Storm|Tex™ laminated membrane provides an 8,000 mm water-resistant fabric rating, while the outer shell is treated with a C0 DWR Grade 4 liquid repellent coating. This advanced finish causes water to bead and roll off the surface while also helping repel mud, dirt and many common liquid-based stains, keeping the jacket cleaner and easier to maintain. To preserve the fabrics natural stretch and freedom of movement, the seams are intentionally left untaped. Seam taping would reduce flexibility and compromise the mobility expected from a performance softshell. As a result, the Artaxes Escape is highly water resistant but not fully waterproof, providing an ideal balance between weather protection, breathability and unrestricted movement. Built for active use The lightweight stretch construction allows unrestricted movement during climbing, kneeling, crawling and other demanding activities, while reinforced elbow and forearm panels increase durability in high-wear areas. Large, zippered underarm ventilation openings allow excess heat to escape during periods of high activity. Each opening is protected by insect-blocking mesh, allowing continuous airflow while preventing insects and debris from entering the jacket. Inside, the Grid|Tech™ waffle fleece lining creates hundreds of small air channels that trap warm air while allowing moisture and excess body heat to escape. This provides excellent warmth for its weight, dries quickly, feels comfortable and reduces unnecessary bulk compared to traditional fleece linings.
